The agreement establishes a foundation that will be responsible for recovery and compensation programs

The agreement signed on Wednesday between Samarco, Vale and BHP Billiton and the Federal and State governments of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo defines the creation of a business law Foundation that will be responsible for the social, environmental and economic recovery programs of the regions affected by the burst of the Fundão dam.

The Foundation will  consist of a Board of Trustees, an Executive Board of Directors, an Advisory Board and a Supervisory Board. Furthermore, technical experts and independent audits will be hired.

Samarco will remain responsible for the execution of all projects in progress until the foundation is fully constituted.
