Over 4600 animals, of which 3600 large size and 1072 small size, are being taken care of by the Samarco teams from the day of the accident with the dams near Mariana

Dogs, cats, pigs, horses, among other animals, are being kept in a structure inside the urban zone and on local farms. The Company also distributes feed and other consumables (corn, meal, salt, etc.) to the animals which are in the rural zone.

The animals are receiving medical treatment, proper nourishment and daily care supplied by Samarco professionals, NGOs and outsourced companies

The company also provides the necessary logistics for the transfer of animals to specialized clinics when necessary, including vehicles with drivers to help rescue animals, personal protection equipment such as rubber boots, vests and helmets, manpower for security surveillance and clean-up, and office material.

Getting back together with their owners

Among the animals rescued so far, many have been identified by their owners and taken with them to their current homes. Others will temporarily stay boarded at the sites provided by Samarco, with the monitoring of a specialized team.
