In March 2016, a Framework Agreement (TTAC) was signed between Samarco, its shareholders, Vale and BHP Billiton, and the federal, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo governments. The TTAC provides for the creation of a private non-profit foundation, responsible for the implementation of rehabilitation programs for damages caused by the dam failure of Fundão, which are divided into two main work fronts, one socioeconomic and the other socioenvironmental. Called Renova, the Foundation entered into operation on August 2nd, 2016, as established.
Even before signing the TTAC, Samarco was already mobilizing all the necessary efforts to provide care for the impacted people and to mitigate the environmental consequences.
