Dam and dikes structures are steady. Such structures are being monitored in real time by radars and daily inspections are carried out by the technical team of the company. In addition, drones and laser scanning are being used, and the geotechnical instrumentation exists for the technical evaluation. For Germano dam, the readings are automated with the acquisition of online data.
The main solid of Germano dam has a safety factor above 1.9. The factor 1.00 means that the structure is in its equilibrium limit. One of the auxiliary structures, smaller, called Selinha dike presents safety factor above 1.2. The information of monitoring and inspections indicate that the structure is steady despite the safety factor is below the minimum recommended by the Brazilian standard (NBR13028) under normal operating conditions.
As additional safety measures, we initiated preventive work to strengthen the Selinha dike base, in order to raise its safety factor.
