Families settled in houses

14/11/2015

We begin, this Saturday, Nov 14th, the accommodation of homeless people in properties located in Mariana. The houses are equipped with furniture, electronics and household items.

In addition to Samarco, families are being followed by Public Prosecutors and other human rights protection agencies. Residents visited the property options, supported by the Secretary of Social Welfare, formalizing a property receipt form.

Furthermore, we mapped approximately 300 properties in Mariana region, located in urban and rural areas. Samarco’s teams performed inspections in these locations to check electrical, hydraulic and cleaning conditions to ensure that families will have good housing conditions.

Families will count on a daily monitoring of Samarco’s volunteers when it comes to health care (including drugs), psychological support and social assistance. We will also continue providing food and personal care items at this moment.

Rented residences are a temporary alternative to ensure better living conditions for all homeless until a definitive solution is planned according to the needs of the families and to the guidelines of the Public Prosecutors, of Mariana City Council and human rights protection agencies.
