Water supply in Governador Valadares

The water supply in the city of Governador Valadares begins to return to normal from Monday, November 16th. A report issued by Copasa proved that water from the Rio Doce, where the city makes the abstraction, has a potability degree assured, which means, the water can be treated. Besides the three treatment plants that serve the city, Samarco will provide a mobile station to assist in the treatment and refueling.

Before being treated, the water resource will go through a process that accelerates the decantation to separate the waste. The return of the supply will take place gradually.

In addition, two alternative funding works will be carried out in Valadares, one on Suaçuí Pequeno river and one on Suaçuí Grande river, in order to prevent the city from possible interruptions caused by accidents of dams.

It is noteworthy that the emergency measures undertaken by Samarco will not be interrupted. Until now, the company has provided 6.3 million liters of drinking water and 199,500 liters of mineral water to Governador Valadares city population (MG).
