Five of Samarco’s work fronts are working in cleaning the water tank in the region, responsible for feeding Risoleta Neves Power Plant, in the cities of Santa Cruz do Escalvado and Rio Doce, about 100 km from Mariana.
Works are being carried out with companies hired by Samarco and are under monitoring of the Aliança Energia consortium, which operates the dam, in order to restore normal operating conditions. The expectation is that it will happen in the coming days.
To minimize the impacts on the local countryside, three water tank trucks, released by Samarco, is daily supplying the residents living on the banks of the lake. Furthermore, the filling of containers for animals is also being conducted.
