In order to preserve the fauna of the states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo, Samarco reports that are being held monitoring actions and the rescue of terrestrial and aquatic animals living in the area affected by the accident.On Espírito Santo, supported by the staff from the Institute of Research and Rehabilitation of Marine Animals, IPRAM, the company has been making the diagnosis and monitoring of the whole bank of the Doce River.
In case of rescue of any threatened of extinction and/or endemic fishes, those are being accommodated in fish tanks to be later returned to nature. In Minas Gerais, with support from the teams of Tomba Expeditions and the Ouropretana Association of Animal Protection, it is being done animal the rescue and care for those isolated as well as support for rescued animals in a structured Screening Center.
