Nine thousand meters of offshore contention barriers and sea fence started being installed Wednesday, November 18th, at the mouth of the Doce River in Espírito Santo. The studies for the implementation of these measures were carried out by Samarco with the collaboration of the Projeto Tamar, local fishermen and representatives of the Instituto Chico Mendes (ICMBio).
The contention stretches from the south part of the mouth in Regencia and goes up to Povoação, in the region of Linhares. The barriers will be installed at strategic points on the river banks with the objective of preserving local fauna and flora.
