Dams monitored 24/7

20/11/2015

The monitoring room installed within the Germano Unit in Mariana has received new equipment to optimize the inspection of the dam structures and dikes. The new equipment is part of the emergency plan developed by the company, which, even before the accident, had always complied with all the measures required by law. With the help of cameras, large screens, drones and radar, and using field inspections, a team formed by 35 people is accompanying the situation of the Santarém and Germano dams on a 24/7 basis. In addition, a visual monitoring station has been installed, also 24/7.

Pickup trucks equipped with sirens are prepared to circulate in all nearby communities. The population has already been instructed about the meeting points. In addition, sirens have been installed at fixed points, and can also be sounded if needed. These measures have been adopted preventively by the Company.
