23/11/2015

Samarco teams are finishing up the cleaning of the main street of Barra Longa, in Minas Gerais. Professionals are also working on clearing the gutters and sewers, and have cleared the access to surrounding rural areas. The tailings removed from the area are being disposed of temporarily in the city fairgrounds.

Rented homes have been delivered to the affected families in the city. These homes are furnished, complete with household appliances. The residents of the rural areas are being registered and will receive the support and materials promised by the Company.

Meetings are also being held with the community. They are periodic and will address issues such as the progress of the restoration work and the fulfillment of the needs of the community and impacted rural producers.

As part of the planned actions, on Monday, November 23rd, the municipal school José de Vasconcelos Lanna was inaugurated. The new building, renovated and furnished by Samarco, is ready for 100 primary school students, who are going back to school to finish out the school year.
