Meetings started being held last week in Mariana (MG) among the impacted communities, Samarco representatives and competent authorities.
The first meetings focused on the humanitarian aid of an emergency nature, such as the right to lodging and financial assistance.
The participants decided, among other things, the priority criteria for the transfer of families to temporary housing.
As the implementation of these actions progresses, new dialogues will be initiated for decision-making on a medium and long term, to be defined according to local needs.
Joint solutions
On November 18th, a weekly round table for dialogue and negotiation was established between Samarco and the Minas Gerais Housing Company – Cohab MG – for the solution of socioenvironmental problems arising from the dam accident in Mariana. The action was defined on the basis of a decree issued by the Governor of Minas Gerais, Fernando Pimentel.
