Samarco delivers action plan for temporary transfer of families

27/11/2015

Samarco presented its plan for the transfer of families which have been staying at inns and hotels in Mariana to temporary homes. This measure was announced on Tuesday, November 24th, in a new meeting with the communities of Bento Rodrigues and other impacted districts in the municipality of Mariana, the Public Prosecution Service of Minas Gerais, and other competent authorities, in Mariana (MG).

The relocation of these families will abide by the criteria and methodology for prioritization defined by the participants themselves in previous meetings. Families with members who are over 65, with children, pregnant women and newborns, people with special needs or requiring medical care will take precedence in the supply of temporary homes. Other criteria taken into account are the proximity of relatives, the location of the home, and the number of people to be living in each house.

The schedule establishes that each week 25 families will be accommodated in rented homes, and outlines actions lasting until February 2016. By November 26th, 39 families had already been relocated.

The temporary homes are outfitted with furniture, appliances, and bed/bath linen. Samarco will also pay for food for all families until they receive the card providing them with access to the allotted food allowance.
