Over 30 teenagers from the communities of Mariana and Barra Longa (MG) attended on Friday, November 27th, a lecture about professional development. The presentation was coordinated by professionals from the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) with the support of Samarco, the Mariana town hall and the Grupo Coaching Condor Blanco.
IFMG will offer scholarships for technical school and university studies for the participants. Technical courses will be offered in industrial automation, administration, metallurgy and structural design. The university courses available are in the fields of geography and physics, and technical school courses in culinary arts and in conservation and restoration.
The lecture was offered as a result of the work front established by Samarco last Wednesday, November 25th, to address the issues of professions, jobs and income. Company teams are visiting inns and hotels and houses where the families in the local communities are temporarily lodged to make a survey of their professional profiles. The survey will be concluded on Sunday, November 29th, and then the team will start on its analysis of the data collected. After this is finished, the focus will be on seeking the professional assignment of the people affected by the dam accident to their former functions, reestablishing their working capacity or opening up new professional and income opportunities.
