Since November 16th, three social workers have been visiting residences in Barra Longa and in the district of Gesteira to provide comfort and psychosocial support to the inhabitants. Chestnut Global Partners Brazil, a company specialized in situations of risk was hired by Samarco to do this job. The Municipal Social Work Secretariat, by means of the Social Work Reference Centre – CRAS Viva Feliz, is also monitoring and supporting the development of this work front.
As of Monday, November 30th, the works will be intensified with the arrival of three psychologists, who will focus on cases requiring a specialized support.
During the assistance, all families are registered for update of information in Civil Defence and Samarco databases. So far, over 300 visits have been made in the municipality.
The company and the City Hall of Barra Longa already study an alternative for the cases which will require a long-term support.
