The work continues on relocating the families affected by the accident with the Samarco dams in the Mariana region. So far, 51 families have been settled in rented homes. According to the term signed with the Public Prosecution Service, the Company has committed to relocating all the families by February 2016. This action has been given special attention so that this phase can be concluded as fast as possible. The process counts with the active participation of the families involved and of the Municipal Secretariat for Social Assistance.
The transfer of families to their new homes has complied with the criteria and methodology of prioritization defined by the Committee of Representatives of the Affected Community. Families with members over 65 years in age, children, pregnant women and newborns, people with special needs or requiring constant medical care have been given priority in the delivery of the houses. The selection of the properties also takes into account the proximity of family members, the location of the house and the number of dwellers in each house.
The temporary residences are equipped with furniture, household appliances and bed/bath linen. Samarco is also paying for the food for all the families until they receive the card which allows them to draw the corresponding allowance.
