On November 30th, Samarco received the visit of Minas Gerais State Representatives members of the Extraordinary Commission of Dams held by Minas Gerais Legislative Chamber at the Germano unity. The Director of Operations and Infrastructure of the company, Kleber Terra, was with the representatives at the monitoring room and at the dams.
During the visit, the real time dam monitoring method used was presented, showing Samarco’s commitment in guaranteeing the structural stability of its dams. They are monitored by radars and daily inspections, held by the company’s technical team along with specialized hired companies. Besides that, drones, laser scanning, and geotechnical instruments are being used for technical analyses. Being those resources automatized and with online data for the Germano dam.
The representatives were also able to visit the Germano and Fundão dams and witnessed the pacing of emergency works being done to reinforce the structures, which will increase security and reduce risks at the accident site.
Samarco clarified subjects questioned by the Representatives and continues to be open to collaborate with the committee’s works.
