The works being made by the Samarco team in Barra Longa (MG), are evolving and reaching visible results. A total of 341 people are directly involved in the diverse action fronts which range from the accommodation of families in rented real estate to the cleaning and rebuilding of houses, streets and squares.
Cleaning and release of passage ways
The main streets of all the municipality regions have already been cleaned and released for passage. The accesses to the rural areas have also been unobstructed.
Relocation of families
The Barra Longa families which had their houses impacted by the Mariana dams accident have been place into houses both rented and of family members, where they are receiving psychosocial support from specialized professionals. Until december 01, 26 of them have been transferred to temporary residences. The houses are equipped with furniture, electrical appliances, utensils and bedding, besides food, groceries, cleaning supplies, toiletries and potable water.
Cleaning of houses
Out of the total 271 affected houses, 97 have had their inside areas compromised by the tailings. The Samarco teams have done the heavy cleaning in 83 houses and the fine cleaning of 70 of them. In addition, 40 yards have been cleaned, eight houses are being refurbished and five business points have been released are active.
Deposit of tailings
The mud removed from the streets and yards is being deposited in the municipality exhibitions park. Samarco is studying the alternatives of location adjustment, so as to provide the proper treatment to the material.
