In Mariana, 72 families were transfered to temp residences rented by Samarco. In the last three days, 19 houses were delivered. The process counts on the active participation of residents and of the Municipal Secretary of Social Assistance.
Below are all the stages of the delivery of houses to the families.
Meeting with the Community
Twice a week, Samarco participates in meetings with community representatives of Mariana (MG) affected by the accident involving the dams, Ministry for Public Affaris of Minas Gerais and other relevant bodies for the decisions regarding the emergency work for humanitarian assistance must be applied.
The criteria and priority methodology of these meetings is to transfer these residents. It has the priority to deliver to families with elders of 65 years of age, children, pregnant women or new-born babies, people with special need or that need medical care.
Social Listening on the Family Core
In this stage, Samarco professionals go to hotels and bed and breakfasts where the families are staying, or schedule a meeting with those staying at the homes of family members to meet the reality and special needs of each one of them, to meet their expectations regarding the property. The number and size of rooms, garage, region, type of residence, proximity of relatives, among other factors are evaluated.
Purchasing Process of the Furnishing Kit
Since the beginning, a team of the company is in charge of purchasing the Furnishing Kits for the new homes, giving preference to local businesses. All families get furniture, appliances, utensils and trousseau.
Evaluation of Properties Available
In parallel, for the social listening, another group of professionals travel the Mariana (MG) region in search of possible properties for the population. They evaluate the houses regarding their infrastructure, safety aspects, documentation and water a power supply. Overall, approximately 700 properties were already mapped and inspected.
Crossing of Necessities
After Samarco professionals understand the needs of each family core and have the mapping and evaluation of the properties available for the rent, the data is crossed. In this stage, the necessities of the families regarding the characteristics of the mapped properties are integrated.
Infrastructure Cleaning and Validation
In this stage, Samarco professionals go to the property to clean and validate the electric and hydraulic systems of the location to avoid future problems for the family.
Presentation of Options
After the cleaning and validation of the infrastructure, the families are presented with options of properties to satisfy their particularities. The company looks for were they are staying, accompanied by a City Hall social worker of Mariana and brings the group to the properties selected in the Crossing of Needs. If the expectations of the residents are not met during this first visit, other visits will be performed.
House Options
During the visit the the properties available for rent, the families choose the one that fits them the best and sign an agreement with Samarco to choose the property.
Set Up and Organization
As soon as the property kit arrives, the set up and organization of all utensils and trousseau is made.
Food Delivery
Besides the property kit, Samarco and the City Hall of Mariana fill up the residence with staple food products, produce, cleaning and hygiene products from the donations made.
Family Moving
On the day of the moving, the Samarco team picks up the family from the location where they are staying and brings them to their new residence.
Donation Withdraws
After the moving, the company arranges transportation to the Convention Center for the families to withdraw donations.
