With the arrival of the turbidity plume to Regência, district of Linhares, in the state of Espírito Santo, the fauna rescue work in the region has been intensified. In addition to the capture of the fish, the species identification and a genetic bank storing – actions that were being held since before the passing of the plume – , all lifeless species are also being removed from the river.
In Espírito Santo, the removal, identification and quantification of these fish are being taken care of by biologists from the company Bioma Estudos Ambientais at The Doce River in the localities of Baixo Guandu, Colatina and Linhares, where the beaches of Regência and Povoação are located.
After the above referred work, the fish are packed into containers and taken to licensed landfills. Transportation is carried out by the company Brasil Ambiental/Ambitec.
