On Friday, November 4th, Samarco signed the Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) with the Labor Public Prosecution Service of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, in a meeting held in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The document seals the Company’s commitment to not carry out any mass dismissal of its employees before March 1st, 2016. Up to that date, the Company also undertakes to not terminate any permanent service provider contracts.
With regard to the situation of the riverside residents in the two states impacted by the accident – those that fish or extract sand and rock for a living – Samarco has engaged Golder Associates, a highly respected international company, to perform a socioeconomic study of these regions. Until the implementation of the actions outlined in the diagnostic, or for a period of six months, the Company will furnish an allowance in the amount of one minimum monthly wage, plus 20% for each dependent as well as a basket of food staples (DIEESE). This support will start being delivered on December 11th according to the rosters already available.
