Cultural activities are being held in order to rescue the roots of the communities impacted by the Fundão dam collapse. The work developed, which aims to repair, restore and rebuild the impacts caused, is part of the 41 programs that integrate the Conduct Adjustment Transactional Term (TTAC), signed with the Federal government, the Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo state governments and other government entities.
The city of Mariana, in Minas Gerais, hosted the Music in the Square event, with the presentation of the “Canta Comigo” coral, from the Paracatu district, and guitarist, composer and singer Chico Lobo. Besides the show, the community participated in dance and makeup classes, film sessions and art workshops, among other free activities that aimed to developed and strengthened self-esteem, creativity, affectivity, socialization and the construction of knowledge.
In Espírito Santo, the Caboclo Bernardo Party brought joy to the Regência village, helping to rescue tourism and stimulate the local economy. About 6,000 people attended the party, which featured the show of the traditional reggae band “Tribo de Jah” and also “Banda Casaca”, a Espirito Santo group with Congo influences. The people how have attended the event were also able to participate in drum and ganzá (Congo typical instruments) making workshops and also check out the exhibition of crafts and naive artists from Regência, besides attending the presentation of the “Auto do Caboclo Bernardo”, performed by “Cia de Artes Regência Augusta”, a theater group of local artists that has reenacted the Caboclo Bernardo’s trajectory.
