Samarco is committed and working to rebuild Bento Rodrigues, district of Mariana (MG), one of the regions affected by the Fundão Dam burst. The community is being involved in every step of the process so that the new district can meet its needs.
To start the reconstruction process of Bento Rodrigues, Samarco has mapped 17 terrains according to criteria defined by the community. Among them are: accessibility, soil characteristics, water availability and topography.
After several meetings with the company, residents elected three of the analyzed grounds that are closest to the established criteria. They are in the Mariana surroundings and are known as Lavoura, Carabina and Bicas. The sites have already been visited by the community, along with Samarco’s technical team. See how the visit was:
