Between June 3rd and 5th, the Caboblo Bernardo Festivities and the 26th Meeting of Congo Bands will take place in Regência (ES), these events sought to recover and diffuse cultural heritage of Espirito Santo state.
The festivities will be carried out by Samarco and will have the company’s cultural support, through the “Tourism, Culture, Sports and Leisure” program, one of the 41 programs included in the Agreement signed by the company and the Federal government and state governments of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo, among other governmental institutions.

The Caboclo Bernardo festivities occur since the 1930’s as homage to Bernardo José dos Santos (1859-1914), who is a Brazilian national hero of indigenous descent who lived in a stretch of the Atlantic Rain Forest in present-day Espirito Santo state territory. He was a fisherman from Regência, known for having faced troubled seas and saved 128 people when the “Imperial Marinheiro” Cruiser was sinking on September 7th, 1887. The heroic act granted him a commendation the Pricess Isabel.
