Promoting playful and collective activities, the project has contributed for bringing back cultural habits and tradition to the community
Aiming to offer entertainment, leisure and culture to the members of communities affected by the dam rupture, the administration of Mariana in partnership with Samarco, carried out a Culture and Leisure project last month, named Janeiro Cultural (Cultural January). The program contemplated recreational, playful activities, during the entire month.
Through this initiative, social integration activities were offered – such as dance, music, sport, art, cinema and leisure – to strengthen community bonds, considering the adaptation of residents into new territory. The actions sought to enhance social harmony among all ages, in respect for Human Rights, which have guided the company’s actions. A total of 3,700 people attended the project.
The community of Barra Longa also took part in some of the cultural activities such as the outdoor cinema and the leisure street, which attracted approximately one thousand people and were promoted by a partnership between the local government and Samarco.
The culture and leisure project adds to the several humanitarian actions performed by Samarco, as temporary dwelings, financial assistance, education, health and environment.
