Yesterday (17/Jan) was the inauguration event of the space housing the largest mining hub in the world, the Mining Hub, which has the participation of Samarco. The initiative, led by Ibram (Brazilian Mining Institute) in collaboration with major mining companies and Neo Ventures, is installed in the We Work building in Belo Horizonte and brings together different players from the mining chain, such as suppliers, startups, researchers and investors.
The project was designed to promote the development of innovative solutions focused on five initial themes: Operational Efficiency, Water Management, Occupational/Operational Health and Safety, Tailings and Waste Management and Alternative Energy Sources. “We here at Samarco are very proud to be part of this project and we believe that together we can promote innovation and the development of solutions for the mineral sector that will generate added value for society,” says Alessandra Prata, Specialist Engineer and Samarco representative in the Mining Hub.
The objectives of the Mining Hub are to foster the open innovation environment; seek external solutions to internal problems; generate positive impact through actions that benefit both operations and stakeholders; accelerate the innovation process in solving known problems.
The Hub will serve as a bridge between the mining industry and the universe of innovation and startups, in the fields of technology, behavior and process, in addition to facilitating communication among other industry players and with suppliers.
The launch event gathered over 250 people, among representatives from mining companies, partners, suppliers and startups. To learn more and see the full coverage, access here.
