Regarding the suspension of the homologation of the Agreement between Samarco, its shareholders Vale and BHP Billiton, the Federal Government and the state governments of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, announced yesterday, June 30th, by the Superior Court of Justice, Samarco informs that intends to appeal the decision.
The Agreement, signed by the parties last March and approved on May 5th, provides a number of socio-environmental and socioeconomic programs aiming at the recovery of the impacts caused by the Fundão dam collapse.
Samarco clarifies that the decision does not affect the obligations contained in the Agreement and they will continue to be fully implemented, including with respect to the establishment of the private law Foundation provided in the document.
