23/03/2016

Regarding the restoration of a square in Barra Longa, town impacted by the burst of Fundão dam, Samarco proposed to the public authorities the involvement of the community so they can express their opinions and expectations in relation to the venue.

During the first week of March a dialogue was held with about 210 people from the community, including children, teenagers, farmers and traders. Listening rounds were also held with public authorities and the elderly.

The square in Barra Longa is an important public space for recreation and sociability in town and serves different publics of all ages and social classes, allowing the integration of the local population. Due to its central location, its restoration is relevant not only for the resumption of local physical structure, but also for its historical significance.

All dialogue meetings are being monitored and recorded so that at the end, it is possible to estimate the participation, legitimizing the transparency of the process.
