Producers of pout pepper jelly and Samarco plan to resume production

15/01/2016

The pout pepper jelly produced by the Bento Rodrigues farmer’s association has a new building, provided by Samarco, that is being renovated to comply with Sanitary Inspection requirements. When finished, if it passes the inspection, the building will allow the association to resume its production.

In addition, in a meeting with the Company, representatives of the association presented the specifications for a new planting area, including soil analysis, size of the plot, quantity of seedlings and right time for planting. This area, which will also be provided by Samarco, will supply the sweet little peppers to assure production of the jelly in the future.

For 2016, the production of the jelly is assured thanks to their existing stock. The old factory in Bento Rodrigues was in an area that was not impacted by the accident, so it was possible to remove the material, equipment and utensils used in the production, which have been in safekeeping by Samarco.
