About 40 rural producers of the Mariana and Barra Longa municipalities and 15 Samarco employees participated in the “Field Day” event, held every year by EMATER (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Minas Gerais) along with the UFV (Federal University of Viçosa) staff. The action is part of the Farmer Week event scheduling in Viçosa and it took place on July 19th.
The following topics were addressed, theoretically and in practice: rehabilitation of degraded pastures; tillage; low cost silage production; corn production; silvopastoral and agrosilvopastoral systems; fence construction and the presentation of experiences of producers.
The event was an opportunity for the affected producers to get to know techniques that are being worked on in the region, besides strengthening the company’s relationship with the rural producers and with institutions such as EMATER and UFV.
