Together with the Municipal Health Department of Barra Longa, Samarco has helped the provide over 200 medical consultations in the city. The Company hired health professionals to work around the clock on weekends at the Health Unit, in order to meet the extra needs of the residents and to complement the medical care already provided during the week in the municipality.
In addition to the consultations, over 80 blood tests were performed, assuring the non existence of diseases such as hepatitis or leptospirosis and the iron content in the body.
To support the health care in Barra Longa, health care professionals were hired, including doctor, nurses, nurse assistants and general services assistants. Other professionals are being hired, such as psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.
Samarco also purchased needed items for health care, such as medication, hospital, hygiene and cleaning supplies. In addition, the Company provided an ambulance for patient transportation. The Barra Longa Health Unit is located at Av. Pedro José Pimenta, 160, downtown.
