Framework Agreement (TTAC)

Samarco, Vale and BHP Billiton, on March 2nd 2016, signed a Framework Agreement (TTAC) with the Federal Government and the Governments of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo as well as other government entities, with the objective of accelerating the coordinated implementation of measures aimed at the social, environmental and economic recovery of the regions impacted by the Fundão dam rupture on November 5th 2015.

The document lists programs, which are gathered on two main fronts: socio-environmental and socio-economic. The programs reiterate the commitment to repair, restore and reconstruct after the significant impacts of the damages to the surrounding environment and communities.

In order to ensure that the remedial actions had legitimacy, the Framework Agreement (TTAC) also created the Renova Foundation, which is responsible for the execution of these programs.

The Foundation as an autonomous and independent entity was understood as an appropriate initiative and, in August 2016, took over the remedial actions, including those initially being carried out by Samarco.
